Scope

This privacy policy applies to the Android app Pet Diary / Das Haustiertagebuch. It explains which data may be processed within the app, for which purposes this happens, and how users remain in control of their data.

The app is designed as a locally operating diary for pets. There is no registration, no login, and no cloud synchronization. User data is not sent to a server for storage or analysis.

Processed Data

The app may process the following types of data in particular:

• Pet master data such as name, animal type, optional date of birth, optional profile picture, and selected weight unit
• Diary entries such as date, content, mood, weight, and health notes
• Media such as photos, videos, and locally generated thumbnails
• App settings such as language, theme, onboarding status, and reminder or notification preferences
• Backup data created during export or import, especially ZIP files containing the database as well as image and video files

Purposes of Processing

Data is processed exclusively to provide the app functions expected by the user.

• Providing the diary features for pets
• Showing reminders and yearly recaps locally on the device
• Sending local notifications if enabled by the user
• Exporting and importing backups based on explicit user action

Permissions

The app may request the following permissions depending on the feature used:

• Camera access to capture photos or videos within the app
• Media or file access to select existing photos and videos and to import backups
• Notification permission for optional reminder notices

Such permissions are used only for the relevant feature. Their use depends on the operating system and on the choices made by the user.

Storage Location and Recipients

Data entered in the app is stored locally on the device in the app storage. There is no automatic transfer to me or to third parties.

Data is only shared if users actively create a backup export and then share those exported files on their own initiative.

Retention Period

Data remains on the device until users delete it within the app, replace or overwrite it by importing a backup, or uninstall the app.

Legal Basis

Where applicable, processing is based on the use of app functions requested by the user and on granted permissions or consent for camera access, media access, and notifications.

Data Subject Rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, data subjects have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

In practical terms, please note that no server-side storage of app data takes place. Immediate control over the data stored in the app therefore remains largely with the users on their own device.
